One of the best things about the Costa de la Luz and the Province of Cádiz is the amount of choice available in almost every field, whether it be food, nature or sports. Golf is no different.
Sinking a putt with vistas of the Mediterranean or the Atlantic, playing a country club or a links course, enjoying fast greens, or testing oneself between lakes and bunkers, the key word for golf in this area is: choice.
With the single exception of Novo Sancti Petri in Chiclana, the Atlantic Coast was a barren area for golf lovers. Now it is emerging as an exciting alternative to the Costa del Sol, either to be combined with a "costa" holiday or to be taken on its own, for there are more than a dozen courses within reasonable distance from one another.
In fact, there are a total of 13 courses within the Province of Cádiz, most of them either right on the coast or within 15 kms of that coast, and although still a relatively new sport in this part of the world, thousands of golfers come here to play where the best players have made history.
Designers of Atlantic golf courses have seen it as a challenge to compensate for a lack of hills by creating interesting water and forest features.
Further incentive to become acquainted with the area´s golf clubs is a marketing scheme that includes several courses. Montenmedio, Novo Sancti Petri, Montecastillo, Costa Ballena, Real Club de Sevilla, Club Zaudin, Islantilla and Isla Canela belong to an association that offers special deals at the aforementioned courses.
Further details available on request.
The courses that are closest to Conil are linked above with their own page, along with 2 courses on the Costa del Sol which belong within the Province of Cádiz.
There are several other courses not mentioned above which are within a 45 minute drive of Conil and should one run short of courses could easily be played:

CLUB DE GOLF COSTA BALLENA

José María Olazábal was the brains behind the design of this 18-hole course situated on the coast of the province of Cádiz, covering an area of more than 400 hectares and belonging to two different municipalities, Rota and Chipiona.
It is a course with wide and very versatile tees and so the game can be enjoyed by both professional players and those with a lower level of golf. The round is comfortable and there is plenty of water.
The par-3 16th is particularly worth a mention as the green is surrounded by a lake. The course at Costa Ballena is considered to be one of the best courses in Spain, and there is also a prestigious golf school, a 9-hole course and a high-performance centre for professional players.
It is situated 5 km from El Puerto de Santa María on the road to Rota.
